Decant is a song about when a father or mother is not able to be a star ( sportstar, rockstar,etc.) in their lifetime ...so they try to live out their dreams through their children......this is called living "vicariously"....as in by association...so like when a father has a son who is a football star, the father can live out his own dreams that he had of being a football star....also when people associate with rich people but aren't rich themselves...they still believe and try to live out their dreams of being rich through their rich friends....it is the dawning reality that they are not these things in their own lives that hits the hardest..this is in the ending line ..." FOR ALL THIS TIME I TRULY BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE MINE...so they are willing to deceive themselves to the last, and cannot see the reality.......
